Personal Enrichment: Introduction to Oil Painting
The University of Tulsa Division of Continuing Education Presents|
This course will introduce students to oil paints, focusing mainly on materials and painting fundamentals. Students will begin by stretching their own canvas and will work with a variety of painting surfaces, such as canvas, masonite, and paper. The class will discuss surfaces, color palette, value, mark making, subject matter, and spatial issues. We will also discuss a variety of painting ideas that highlight other artists’ work and painting theories. This upbeat class will equip the student with many approaches to painting, aiming to broaden their understanding of art, and to encourage independent practice.
Kaylee Huerta is a representational painter. Her recent work investigates different relationships found in color, scale, and subjects. Recently, she’s been awarded Honorable Mention in the OVAC 2012 Momentum show and Best of Show in September Salon hosted by the Tulsa Artists Coalition.
