Originally established in 2006 as the Chapter of the Year Award, this honor recognized alumni chapters that demonstrated exceptional commitment to The University of Tulsa through engagement, events, and outreach. As the TU Alumni Association transitioned from chapters to a network-based model to better reflect the broader reach and organization of alumni groups, the award evolved accordingly. It is now known as the Network of the Year Award.
In 2008, the award was named in honor of Charles S. Monroe ('78, '80), the first president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. This award is given annually to an officially chartered alumni network outside of Tulsa that has gone above and beyond in supporting and advancing the TU mission through its alumni community.
The winning network receives a monetary gift, a trophy, and formal recognition during Homecoming.
