In alignment with the TU Alumni Board of Directors Bylaws, the primary purpose of the Board is to strategically align The University of Tulsa and the Alumni Association. To best serve the evolving alumni community, Board members are expected to consider how they can engage and support the diverse needs of all alumni.
Board of Directors serve three-year terms. Members are expected to attend four board meetings annually, participate in task forces and committees that address alumni needs, and actively promote and celebrate the alumni community. As a Board member, you should be prepared to take a genuine interest in the strategic workings of the university and share your insights with fellow alumni.

Board Responsibilities
1. Representation - Board members will serve as a liaison between TU Alumni and the institution, voicing alumni needs and concerns.
2. Engagement and Advocacy - Board members will foster alumni engagement by encouraging participation in events, programs, and initiatives.
3. Network Development - Board members will support the establishment and growth of alumni Networks and representatives.
4. Fundraising and Philanthropy - Board members will promote university fundraising campaigns and philanthropic initiatives to the alumni community.
5. Strategic Planning and Governance - Board members will contribute to the board's strategic planning and policy decisions. - Members will participate in national board sub-committees and task forces to advance the board's mission.
6. Event Participation - Board members will attend and support alumni events that are both in-person within their region and virtually when appropriate.
Board Expectations
1. Time Commitment - Board members must attend all scheduled board meetings, including any retreats, committee meetings, or special sessions. - Board members must dedicate time outside of meetings to complete board assignments and contribute to board projects.
2. Financial Contribution - Board members must demonstrate consistent financial support for the University, regardless of the amount contributed. The board is not only responsible for fundraising but also shows its ongoing commitment to the institution through regular financial contributions.
3. Collaboration and Teamwork - Board members must respect diverse perspectives and maintain professionalism during deliberation.
4. Alumni Engagement - Board members must actively recruit and encourage alumni to engage with the university and its program. - Board members must also build relationships with current students to strengthen the alumni pipeline.
5. Ethical Conduct - Board members must serve with integrity, avoiding any conflicts of interest in executing their role. - Board members must maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive board discussions or university information.
