2018-2019 Jess Chouteau Outstanding Seniors


TU will honor its 2018-19 Jess Chouteau Outstanding Seniors and Top 10 Freshmen during Homecoming week. Ten seniors are selected each year for their exceptional achievement in academics and community engagement.

This year’s Outstanding Seniors are Donovan Adesoro of St. Paul, Minnesota; Crosby Garrison of Springfield, Missouri; Gabby Gunnerson of Overland Park, Kansas; Andrew Hansen of St. Louis, Missouri; Gracie Kempf of St. Louis, Missouri; Austin Lignieres of The Woodlands, Texas; Kyra Manlove of Kansas City, Missouri; Peyton Manning of Houston, Texas; Will Schuller of Overland Park, Kansas; and Jordan Sosa of Florissant, Missouri.

Donovan Adesoro is a petroleum engineering major in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences and is also minoring in law, policy and society. He is a CimarexScholar and has been accepted into the OK-LSAMP Undergraduate Research Program. Adesoro’s TU activities include serving as vice president of the National Society of Black Engineers, president of the Student Team Engaging Minorities in STEM (STEM^2), member of Mortar Board and participation in the Engineers Without Borders Bolivia Team Project. He has interned for Occidental Petroleum, Devon Energy and Hilcorp Energy Co. and currently is a data scientist for ReDDS (Reservoir Description using Data Science).

Crosby Garrison is an energy management major in the Collins College of Business with a minor in economics. She is president of TU Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and a member of: American Association of Professional Landmen, Tulsa Energy Management Student Association, University Ambassadors, Future Alumni Council, TU Student Association, Love Your Melon Campus Crew, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Chi Omega Fraternity, and volunteer for Make a Wish Foundation. Garrison has received the TU Heritage Award, TU Energy Management Industry Scholarship, numerous energy industry and company sponsored scholarships and is listed on the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll. She has interned with Anadarko Petroleum and Newfield Exploration over the past three summers and spent a semester studying monetary and economic policy in Vienna, Austria. Garrison has accepted a full-time position at Anadarko Petroleum in Denver, Colorado as a Landman.

Gabby Gunnerson is majoring in business administration in finance and accounting with a minor in energy management in the Collins College of Business. She is a Bey Scholarship recipient and has been named to the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll. Gunnerson is chief executive officer and intramural coordinator of Kappa Alpha Theta and has served as the sorority’s chief financial officer. She is president and past treasurer of the Future Alumni Council as well as treasurer of Order of Omega, executive director of student awareness for the TU Student Association and candidate for Beta Alpha Psi. Gunnerson is a member of Mortar Board, Student Finance Association, Tulsa Energy Management Student Association and University Ambassadors. She has interned at Koch Industries, Merito Group, LLC, the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and Hangers Cleaners, LLC, and she currently works at JoCo in Tulsa as a business intern.

Andrew Hansen is a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. He is president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, technology chair for University Ambassadors, events chair for the Future Alumni Council, treasurer of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and historian of Mortar Board. Hansen has also served in several roles within the TU Student Association including the office of president. He is a past research and development intern at the Gunnebo Johnson Corp. and has volunteered at Kendall-Whittier Elementary School, Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK), Rustic Pathways Service Trip to Costa Rica and with fundraising activities for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

Gracie Kempf is a psychology and sociology double major from the Kendall College of Arts and Sciences. She is a Heritage Scholarship recipient and has been named to the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll. Kempf is the president of Mortar Board, president of Alpha Kappa Delta, new member chair of Kappa Kappa Gamma, undergraduate researcher for the Individual Differences Lab and an undergraduate founder to the Psychology Department’s Eye-Tracking Lab. She is a peer mentor in the TU Center for Student Academic Support; member of University Ambassadors, Order of Omega, Phi Kappa Phi, and Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society. She volunteers at Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Tulsa SPCA and Christian Family Camp. She currently works as a student researcher at the Institute for Biochemical and Psychological Study of Individual Differences.

Austin Lignieres is a chemical engineering major with a pre-med option in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. He is a Presidential Scholar and recipient of a TU Student Research Grant. Lignieres has been a member of the Tau Beta Pi National Honor Society, Mortar Board, Omega Chi Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma and Kappa Alpha Order. Other campus involvement includes TU Global Scholars, Alpha Epsilon Delta, University Ambassadors, TU Student Association, Chem-E-Car Competition, tutoring in the Office of Academic and Student Services and serving as an exchange student buddy for the Center for Global Education. He has conducted research within the TU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as the Laureate Institute for Brain Research while shadowing several physicians in preparation for his medical career.

Kyra Manlove is a marketing major in the Collins College of Business and also minors in advertising and Spanish. She was recognized as a TU Top Ten Freshman and has been named to the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll. Manlove is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Mortar Board, and is a recipient of the International Baccalaureate Diploma. She is involved in Kappa Delta Sorority, Sound of the Golden Hurricane Marching Band, Women in Business, University Ambassadors and the National Student Advertising Competition Team. Her community service projects include Girl Scouts, Parent Child Center of Tulsa, Gladstone Theater in the Park and the Kansas City Pet Project. Manlove currently serves as director of communications for the TU Student Association and has served as a brand strategy intern at Sullivan Higdon & Sink in Kansas City.

Peyton Manning is studying computer information systems and management in the Collins College of Business while earning a minor in Spanish. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll and the President’s Honor Roll. She was recognized as a Top 10 Freshman and is the recipient of an academic scholarship and the McAlinden Scholarship. Manning is new member director of Kappa Alpha Theta and has been active in the TU Cappella Chamber Singers, TU University Ambassadors, and teaches PiYo fitness on campus. She volunteers with Reading Partners and Fellowship of Catholic University Students and has dedicated time to Martha’s Kitchen in Houston, Texas, as a meal server. Manning has interned at Phillips 66 and Stinnett & Associates and participated as a TU Orientation Leader.

Will Schuller is a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. He has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll and the President’s Honor Roll and is a member of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. He was named a Top Ten Freshman. Will has worked for Student Housing as a resident assistant at Hardesty Hall and for the Athletic Department as a tutor. Current university involvement includes the TU Student Investment Fund Team and SAE Aero Design Team. He is also a part of TU’s qualifying team for the AIChE Chem-E-Car National Competition. He has interned with Ford Motor Company’s polymer composite manufacturing research team in Dearborn, MI as well as Ford’s tech integration team in Palo Alto, CA.

Jordan Sosa is an engineering physics major in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. He has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll and President’s Honor Roll and is a member of Mortar Board, Phi Eta Sigma, Tau Beta Pi and STEM for Underrepresented Populations. Sosa serves as vice president of the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers, vice president of Society of Physics Students and special event coordinator of Kappa Alpha Order. He has served as a TU Orientation Leader and held membership in Tulsa Young Professionals. For the past three summers, he has worked as an undergraduate researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Oklahoma State University and West Virginia University.
